Since the year 1999, the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation has been able to distribute $100,000 to more than 60 community organizations.
Grants Awarded in 2009
In 2009, the Foundation made $9,000 available to support the work of the following organizations:
Project Literacy to help pre-schoolers learn about scientists and their work
The Parksville Seniors Activity and Drop-in Center to kick off a fund raising campaign for a new bus.
The Qualicum Beach Community Garden Society to help develop its new community garden and local food movement.
The Errington Fire Department towards new self contained breathing apparatus to use by volunteer fire fighters.
The Haven Society towards the cost of a new community kitchen where vulnerable women can learn new skills and socialize.
The Qualicum Beach Historical and Museum Society to help with roof repairs to the building that houses important artifacts.
The Lighthouse Country Marine Rescue Society to build a new training facility for the Deep Bay Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Grants Awarded in 2008
In 2008, the Foundation made $8,950 available to support the work of the following organizations:
The Parksville & District Historical Society-to display an exhibition of over 200 photographs illustrating early settlements of BC's Icelanders, many on Vancouver Island. The display was put together by the Scandinavian Cultural Society, the Icelandic Archives of B.C. and the Icelandic Canadian Club of BC assisted by Robert Asdgiersson, Curator of the Icelandic Archives of BC.
Lasqueti Island Community Association-to purchase sound equipment for the Community Hall.
Oceanside Community Arts Council - to support a drop in youth center, called the Rough Diamonds Youth Arts Project. This is a creative opportunity for young people to gather for personal expression in music and art in a safe and non judgemental environment. Arts events for youth will happen on a monthly basis. This is the first youth focussed project approved since the creation of the Youth in Philanthropy component within the Community Foundation.
Arrowsmith Agricultural Association- The Coombs Halloween Candy Walk is an annuaal event on the Coombs Fairground that involves the whole family and draws families from all over the area.
Parksville Qualicum Project Literacy -To purchace a new computer for The Write Place, the community access center.
CNIB--To provide 3 "Daisy" machines that allow the blind access to talking books. In addition, the support pays for CNIB Library Services.
Parksville Qualicum Elks Lodge #589 --To carry on into District 69 elementary schools the identification kits for children. These kits were introduced last year with great success and are an excellent family tool designed to help educate young people and keep them safe from common perils.

In 2007, the Foundation made almost $17,000 available to support the work of the following organizations:
The Old School House Arts Center- to purchase new Class Room tables.
Bard to Broadway Theatre Society - to operate the Senior Teen Acting Camp
Rainbows - to provide updated curricula and facilitator training.
Mid Vancouver Island Habitat Enhancement Society - to provide volunteer monitoring and a public awareness programe for the Englishman River Estuary.
Vancouver Island Opera - to provide a Schools and Seniors program this year.
893 Beaufort Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron - to construct a trophy cabinet.
Parksville-Qualicum Elks Lodge 3589 - to introduce identification kits into the elementary schools to protect children.
Errington Therapeutic Riding Association - to purchase new protective headgear for riders.
Oceanside Hospice Society - to purchase portable massage tables.
Mount Arrowsmith Pipes and Drums Association - to provide tuition to two Pipe and Drum students.
Qualicum Beach Historical and Museum Society - to add more audio stations for museum exhibits.
BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Parksville-Qualicum Beach and District Branch - to provide low cost spaying and neutering.
District 69 Society of Organised Services (SOS) - to support the "hardship emergency fund".
Grants Awarded in 2006
In 2006, the Foundation was able to offer grants totalling almost $17,000 to the following charitable organizations:
North Island Wildlife Recovery Association towards a program for 6-14 year olds at Wildlife Day camps to learn about wildlife and the environment
Parksville & District Historical Association to archive photographs left to the museum, so that they can be accessed by the public for educational, genealogical and other purposes
Parksville Garden & Parkland Society to continue the 5 year project to beautify the Parksville Train Station and Water Tower
Eagle Park Healthcare Auxiliary for the redevelopment of the garden areas of Eagle Park to allow safe and easy access
Rest and Recuperative Equine Care Society to purchase a computer, printer and scanner to produce brochures for promotion
Forward House Community Society for a therapeutic program for adults with serious and persistent mental health problems
Parksville & District Association for Community Living for computers for the day programs for adults with developmental disabilities
Errington War Memorial Association to replace worn chairs used for community functions that support the Errington preschool, recreational and community events
Project Literacy Parksville/Qualicum for course materials for tutors of children with leaning problems, where parents cannot afford to pay
District 69 Society of Allied Support Groups to promote with newspaper ads and posters their two All Terrain wheelchairs
