Youth delegates were treated to a range of information and discussion on patters of importance to them during the Teens of the Town Conference, held at Springwood Middle School Saturday.
The day long session was an initiative of The Hand, a youth-action committee of the Parksville-Qualicum Community Foundation. "There are about 50 delegates and it has all been based on the idea of a community cafe. It's an ideal size for conversations and has allowed everyone to voice their opinion throughout," said The Hand's youth co-ordinator for the conference, Alicia Vanin.
She said delegates were allowed to pick subjects of interest from a range of about a dozen topics, with guest speakers elaborating on issues of particular relevance and workshop sessions for further discussion. Among more popular topis were hanging out, transportation and bridging the age gap in the area known for its elderly demogrpaphic.
