Our Top Ten Youth Truths

On February 20th, 2010, more than 55 engaged youth from all over District 69 and from 14 to 29 got together in a local school gym to talk about "our youth friendly community." 
They were supported by 20 adults ready to help as facilitators and scribes. 

The delegates were welcomed by the Mayor of Parksville, Ed Mayne. The conference was declared open by our favourite Parksville citizen-inspiration, who everyone knows as Flying Phil.

Everyone played a crazy get-to-know-you game, so youth who had never met began to feel comfortable right away. Over the day, there were two inspiring speakers.  There was great food catered by the youth and presented "green". Everything reused, recycled.... And we talked!

There were 12 topics.  See the 'Topics' PDF.  For each one, we asked three questions, "what is good, must be protected and should be grown?  What challenges do we face that we can address collaboratively?  What can we do about it?"

The delegates had plenty to say!
