Do you have a great idea for your neighbourhood?
Apply for a grant of up to $500 to bring people together and make your neighbourhood an even better place to live.
Neighbourhood Small Grants is a unique program that helps build community and strengthen connections right where people live. The program in Parksville-Qualicum supports neighbours with small but powerful ideas to bring people together and make their neighbourhood more vibrant.
Neighbourhood Small Grants are open for applications until April 30th.
These are unique social re-adjustment moments and we are open to all ideas from the community. We are listening—and can help even if the idea doesn’t conform to NSG rules.
The program will accept more than one application from anyone who is supporting a COVID-19 caused need, whether it be virtual endeavours or neighbour assistance programs. We will extend the dollar amount requested up to $500 if needed per application.
The Neighbourhood Small Grants program is based on a simple but powerful idea — when people feel a sense of connection and belonging to their neighbourhood, they are more likely to be engaged in activities that make it a better place. When people are active in the life of their neighbourhood, our communities are strengthened from the ground up. The program in Parksville-Qualicum supports neighbours to build community and strengthen connections right where people live.
During this Time of Social Isolation – You Aren’t Alone
Feeling connected is vital to our well-being. During this time of social isolation, it could lead to feelings of disconnection, so if you have ideas for staying in touch with your neighbourhood and building community, while keeping yourself and your community safe, please apply for a Neighbourhood Small Grant!
Project ideas during this time might include online music lessons or virtual group dance parties, delivering groceries to neighbours, neighbourhood beautification projects, or helping provide meals and warm clothes to the homeless.
Our Vancouver Island community is strong, resilient, and connected. We are known for working together and supporting each other in difficult times. Please take care of yourself. And thank you for taking care of one another!
Applications will be received: March 15 – April 30, 2020
Grants: $50 – $500
Eligible Areas: Deep Bay to Nanoose Bay, inclusive of Errington and Coombs.
