A Message from Our Executive Director
As we move through the early months of 2026, I continue to be energized by the momentum and possibility at the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation.
Over the past few months, we have been strengthening the systems that support our work, including refining our granting framework, building new tools for donors, deepening relationships with local nonprofits, and preparing for another impactful year of community investment.
We are also seeing increased engagement from residents who want to give back, plan ahead, and invest in the long-term wellbeing of our region. That generosity is what fuels this Foundation.
Thank you to our board, donors, fundholders, volunteers, and community partners who continue to believe in the power of local philanthropy. Together, we are growing something that will serve Oceanside not just today, but for generations to come.
Standing with Tumbler Ridge
We are heartbroken by the tragic events at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Our deepest condolences go out to the students, staff, families, and the Tumbler Ridge community. Our hearts are with you as you navigate this unimaginable loss.
If you would like to support the community, the Tumbler Ridge Community Resiliency Fund has been established by the Northeast BC Community Foundation.
Annual Community Fund Grants Now Open
Our 2026 Annual Community Fund Grants are officially open to receive applications.
Local registered charities, qualified donees, and community groups with charitable partners are invited to apply for funding that supports community wellbeing across the Oceanside region.
Applications close March 31, 2026.
Grants In Practice Workshop – February 19
Join us tomorrow, February 19, for our free Grants In Practice Workshop designed to help local nonprofits submit stronger, clearer applications.
This session will walk through:
- What makes a strong application
- Where to find funding opportunities
- The Do’s and Don’t of grant writing
- How to clearly articulate impact
Neighbourhood Small Grants
If you have an idea that brings neighbours together, we encourage you to apply for a Neighbourhood Small Grant (NSG), opening to receive applications starting March 15.
These grants support small-scale, resident-led projects that strengthen connection and belonging in our community, from block parties to art projects to community gardens.
Nanaimo Vital Signs 2025 Released
The latest Vital Signs report has been released by the Nanaimo Foundation.
While focused on Nanaimo, many of the trends closely reflect what we’re seeing here in Oceanside and neighbouring mid-Island communities.
We encourage you to explore the findings and consider how local philanthropy can respond to the shared challenges and opportunities across our region.

Hosted by the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce, the Governance Workshop is designed for nonprofit board members and leaders looking to strengthen governance practices and board effectiveness.
