Born and raised in Smithers, BC, Tanya is community-focused and cooperative-minded. She spent her high school years volunteering with various community initiatives, including initiatives in Kelowna and Nepal in 2011.

Tanya left Smithers in 2007 to pursue education at UBC, where she completed her BA in Psychology, with a Minor in Law and Society, and Community Leadership. She went on to complete certificates in Human Resource Management and Business Management from SFU.

Tanya began her career in the credit union system in 2013 at Central 1 in Vancouver, where she provided human resources and business consulting services to credit unions across Canada. She now works for CUES, a talent development organization supporting credit unions around the globe.

Tanya’s involvement in and support of cooperative organizations has supported and harnessed her passion for collaboration and connection. Tanya, her husband, Nate, and their daughter, Isabelle, left Vancouver in 2020 and moved to Qualicum Beach to set down roots away from the big city and to be closer to family.
