Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grant

RECIPIENT:

Dan LaRocque, for Forward House

DATE RECEIVED:

2020-05-24
This $500 Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grant has been used to build and seed a 4-unit, 80 plant hydroponic leafy green machine, with all produce to be donated to Forward House in Parksville.
Forward House is a group in Parksville that supports adults and youth with mental health challenges. They are able to offer boxed lunches to their clients in times of Covid-19. When it becomes possible, this device will be donated to the society. Dan will continue to support Forward House to learn how to maintain the hydroponic device, via zoom and video instructions. The growing technology can produce for at least 9 months of the year — a long-term impact!
This grant has allowed one person to help many others over the long-term with healthy, locally grown foods!
